"Soar With The Eagles As Believers"

By: Rev. John Driver

“The eagle is a strong, graceful bird that dwells high in trees and in the clefts of rocks. One unique characteristic of the eagle is that when facing a storm the eagle will fly head-on into the storm. It allows the wind currents from the storm to lift it higher and higher above the storm. Once above the storm, the air currents become smooth, and the eagle will soar with very little effort, allowing the winds to carry it to great heights and safety.

The Bible in several places makes a comparison between the eagle and the children of God. One of my favorites is found in Isaiah 40:31. “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (KJV)

The Lord is instructing us to wait on Him first and foremost, before we can soar as the eagle. Did you notice that waitingdoesn’t automatically happen? We have to choose to participate. The real key to

understanding this verse is to understand God’s definition of “wait”. This verse is not implying that we just sit in our comfortable chair confessing “when God when”? To truly prepare for success, we must seek God with all of our heart and learn of His ways and His ways of doing things. The end result will be—we, too, will mount up as the eagle right in the middle of the storms of life, and soar to victory!

We find in Matthew 6, Jesus taught some valuable truths about seeking God first. The Amplified version of Matthew 6:33 says, “Seek God’s ways of doing things and all other things needed in life will be given to us . . .”. What are those things that Jesus is talking about? They are the things in life we need to be overcomers—the wisdom we need to make good decisions, finances, health, and any need we may have.

We all realize that life can be challenging, regardless of who you are or your position in life. We are warned about the trouble coming upon the earth in the last days. 2 Timothy 3:1, “BUT UNDERSTAND this, that in the last days will come (set in) perilous times of great stress and trouble [hard to deal with and hard to bear]. (AMP) The Lord is telling us this not to bring fear upon us, but to forewarn us, so we can prepare. Being prepared is the key to succeeding. It is impossible to live by faith and be victorious in doing so without spending time seeking the Will of the Father, and waiting on His Plan before we go into action.

In closing, Jesus said in John 16:33, “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (KJV) We must have the same confidence as David did when he ran toward Goliath and defeated him.

Just as the eagle flies head-on into the storm, we also can face any situation head-on with the Word of God. We are in Jesus and He is in us, and He has defeated the world! We can also defeat the world with the Word of God as our sword, and faith as our shield. We can defeat the enemy and soar to victory in every situation!”
